Academic interests

My main scientific interest is the study of the statistical and physical properties of active galactic nuclei (AGN). I have worked on various aspects of quasar formation and evolution. Over the years I gradually shifted to increasingly longer wavelengths, studying the physics of tori, the starburst-AGN connection and the implications of the circumnuclear dust to the Unified Scheme. Lately I am looking into the issue of concomitant extreme star formation and accretion onto super-massive black holes.
