Academic interests

My main scientific interest is the study of Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) across wavelengths and cosmic time, their formation and evolution and their impact on the properties of their hosts galaxies. Over the years I gradually shifted to increasingly longer wavelengths, studying the physics of tori, the starburst-AGN connection and the implications of the circumnuclear dust to the Unified Scheme. Lately I am looking into the interplay between extreme star formation and accretion onto super-massive black holes. Within AtLAST2, I am leading Work Package 4, that encompasses the telescope Operations Plan, user support models and the development of a prototype architecture for the AtLAST software.
